Tim Gentry (Dr. Timothy H. Gentry, DBA) is GM of Revenue at Athanor (Athanor Compute, Inc.), a role he begins on November 1, 2026. Athanor is a San Francisco-based compute company. He leads revenue at Athanor, bringing operating and go-to-market experience from enterprise software, manufacturing technology and global telecom.

As GM of Revenue, Tim is responsible for how Athanor goes to market and how it grows alongside its customers. The role covers go-to-market strategy, customer success, revenue operations and partnerships, and the working connections between them. He joins as the company builds out its commercial function.
The work draws on a pattern Tim has repeated across several companies: aligning sales, customer success and operations around a shared view of the customer, and putting simple, measurable processes in place early so that growth does not outrun the team.
Before Athanor, Tim served as Chief Operating Officer of First Resonance, the manufacturing intelligence company behind the ION platform, from March 2025 to October 2026.
In that role he was responsible for the customer-facing operations of the company, including go-to-market, customer success and the scaling work associated with serving regulated, quality-critical manufacturers in aerospace, automotive and defense.
Across these roles, his work has centered on building and running the commercial side of technology companies: go-to-market, customer success and the operating systems that sit underneath revenue. That experience spans enterprise SaaS, vertical software, manufacturing technology and global enterprise telecom, across Asia-Pacific and Silicon Valley.
Tim holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, conferred in 2026. His dissertation, Board Capital Activation and Crisis Recovery: Director Evidence on Crisis Knowledge (Temple University, 2026; ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, Publication No. 32581254), studies how directors bring crisis knowledge to bear when firms are under pressure. He also holds an MBA from American University.
The research examines board capital, the experience, networks and judgment that directors bring to a firm, and asks when that capital is actually put to work during recovery. It connects directly to his operating interest in how organizations turn latent capability into results.
A summary of the study, its model and its findings is available on the research page.
